The Best Holiday Activities in Myrtle Beach

Sparkling lights, drive-through holiday events, tree lighting shows, and New Year’s Eve celebrations—believe it or not, Myrtle Beach transforms into an absolute winter wonderland during the holidays.

With so many events to choose from, we’ve made a list of our favorite things to do to switch to full holly-jolly-mode.

1. Step into a Winter Wonderland

Until December 23, a full mile of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk transforms into Winter Wonderland at the Beach—and oceanfront dreamland with a Family Fun Zone, holiday activities for everyone, and special Santa events with photo ops.

2. Drive through 2 million lights at the Great Christmas Light Show

Take a magical drive-through and drive an enchanting Christmas light experience. Experience the animated figures and dancing lights along 2 miles of the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex.

After this special drive, park your car and walk to Santa’s Village for photos, hot chocolate, and s’mores.

3. Celebrate the holidays with a Christmas show

Taking place every holiday season, the Christmas shows in Myrtle Beach are a classic tradition. Music, dance, magic tricks, and holiday spirit are the perfect ingredients for a holiday spectacle that the whole family will enjoy.

Get your tickets for an evening at the Carolina Opry or Alabama Theatre, or mix things up with the combination dinner and Christmas shows offered at Medieval Times and Pirates Voyage.

4. Get all aglow at a Night of a Thousand Candles

Celebrate the holiday season at one of the most traditional and magical events around Myrtle Beach.

Stroll the paths of Brookgreen Gardens under the soft glow of almost 3000 hand-lit candles and millions of sparkling lights. Grab a warm cup of cider and experience the magic of this event, named “Best Christmas Lights in South Carolina” by Travel+Leisure Magazine.

The Night of a Thousand Candles takes place from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on select days until January 1st, 2023. Check the calendar and ticket information here.

5. Welcome the New Year in Myrtle Beach

Get ready to celebrate the new year on the Grand Strand, Myrtle Beach-style.

With three different fireworks displays throughout the night, rest assured you won’t miss the show. Start early with the 7:00 p.m. spectacle at Barefoot Landing, or stay at Broadway at the Beach for the 8:00 p.m. show. If you prefer to wait until later, The Market Common will host their fireworks show at midnight.

New Year’s celebrations wouldn’t be the same without a good party. If you’re visiting with the family and are looking for kid-friendly events, the Noon Year’s Day Party at Ripley’s Aquarium and the LuLu’s Noon Year’s Eve are some family favorites.

There are plenty of options for a New Year’s Eve party. Check out some of the Myrtle Beach Locals’ favorites here.
